How to apply to Summer Camp USA
Summer Camp USA interviews are now closed
We can only arrange an interview for you now if you already have a contract with a camp. If so, please call the Summer Camps dept. as soon as possible on (020) 7251 3472.
The easiest way to apply to the programme is via our online system, following the four easy steps below. Before you apply we strongly recommend you read the Summer Camp USA Brochure or the Summer Camp USA section of the website and also the Terms and Conditions. We also recommend that before you start, you download the application form and application guidelines. This will give you a chance to see what the actual form looks like and will also give you a clear idea of the amount of information required in some of the questions. You can only use the online system to apply if you are currently resident in the UK or Ireland.

Interview
Interview sessions for the 2008 programme are now closed. If you have a contract from a camp or have already started to complete the application form and wish to book an interview, please call the Summer Camps dept. straightaway on (020) 7251 3472.
When you book your interview, a registration fee deposit of £25 is required. Twelve days before your interview, we will send you exact details of the venue and the time you should attend and the application forms for your CRB check. At your interview you will pay the balance of your registration fees and the interviewer will check your identity documents for your CRB check, collect your application form (and any supporting documentation) and forward it to BUNAC.
Please book the earliest interview date possible.
Application Form
Complete the online application form using the guidelines to help you answer the questions. If you have specific experience of working with Special Needs and you are interested in working on this type of camp, you should also print out and complete the Special Needs Form.
Should you prefer to handwrite your application, you can download a copy of the blank form. There is a space on the front of the application form for your photo. You can either upload a photo before printing the form out, or stick a standard passport-sized photo to the printed copy. You must bring your completed application form (with photo attached) and Special Needs Form (if applicable) to your interview – see Step 2, above.
References
You will need to provide two acceptable references as part of your application and these must be completed on the standard BUNAC forms. You can email your referees a form directly or print copies. Please read the notes on the back of the reference form for guidance on choosing suitable referees. Completed references can either be taken to interview or sent direct to the BUNAC office. It is not necessary to have the reference forms completed before you attend your interview, but please ensure they are completed and returned promptly so that we can continue with your application.
Notes
Contact the Summer Camps department on (020) 7251 3448 if:
1: You are unable to print any of the above forms and would like a copy posted to you.
2: You have ever been arrested, cautioned or convicted of any offence, as this is likely to have implications at the visa processing stage. Please call us before completing an application form or booking an interview if this applies to you, as we may not be able to proceed with it.
Have you worked at camp as a counsellor before?
You may be eligible for our Returner Programme and if so will not need a BUNAC interview. Please contact the BUNAC office for more information:
