Snow Time!

If you're not sure what to do this summer, why not take a break from the traditional beach vacation and train to become a snow sports instructor on the slopes of New Zealand’s North Island? With the increasing accessibility of snow resorts around the world, there’s no better time to improve on your own technique whilst gaining a valuable instructing qualification.

Work New ZealandThe Turoa Snowsports Institute offers ski and snowboard instructor courses on Mt Ruapehu in the Turoa Ski Area. Mt Ruapehu is located in the World Heritage Tongariro National Park and rises to an impressive 2,797 metres. Whakapapa, on the north-western slopes of Mt Ruapehu, is New Zealand’s largest developed ski area. Within the 550 hectare (1360 acres) boundary there is excellent skiing and boarding for all levels.

The 14 week course starts at the end of July and is designed to give practical training combined with hands-on experience to help you qualify as NZSIA Stage 1 instructor (a qualification also highly regarded in Canada - a great opportunity for another winter working holiday in the future).

You can travel as a tourist and enjoy the course as part of an extended holiday; alternatively you can join the course whilst visiting as part of a working holiday (Turoa Snowsports can guarantee continuing work at the resort for all qualifying attendees of the course). The IEP Work Exchange Visa would be ideally suited for this combination.
